David tries one final attempt to get through to Vic and Conrad so Ira doesn't get his way. His pleading finally gets to Conrad. When Conrad stands up to Ira, he gets himself killed, both Vic and Ira unable to tolerate the betrayal. Ira decides to send Vic out to kill one last person: David.
