Vogue Williams and Luke Mabbott help retired artist Penny in West Sussex. After losing her partner of 20 years, she planned to make a fresh start near her daughter and grandchildren by the seaside. But after she fell for a house that needed a total overhaul, those plans are on hold while the renovation has gone badly over budget and behind schedule. To make Penny's remaining budget go further, Vogue shows her clever ways to achieve the artistic aesthetic she loves without spending a fortune, including helping to create some beautiful cupboard doors with a lozenge-shaped detail, and incorporating an innovative timber terrazzo into an upcycled island. Meanwhile, Luke shows Penny how to tackle DIY tasks including blockwork in the courtyard and creating a garden gate. Can they help Penny finally finish the project so that she can enjoy her retirement by the sea?

Vogue Williams and Luke Mabbott come to the aid of mum and son Fiona and Josh in Worcestershire. Fiona's dream of renovating the family home to make a fresh start after being widowed was left in tatters, after she handed over more than £50,000 to a builder who left the job half finished. She's since learned that much of the work needs re-doing and has £80,000 left to try to salvage the project. But it's not enough to stretch to her original plan. Vogue helps Fiona and Josh rethink the design, showing them a smart alternative scheme to maximise the potential of the space within their budget, and encourages them to incorporate stylish interior design ideas, including a panelled wall with a hidden door, and a quirky bespoke dog bed for the family pet. While Luke teaches them new DIY skills to boost Fiona's self-confidence and empower Josh to follow in his late father's footsteps.

In South Wales, Vogue Williams and Luke Mabbott help couple Pete and Lu, who are at the end of their tether after living in a building site with their two young children for 18 months. Over budget and feeling burned following a bad experience hiring builders, Pete wants to complete their new kitchen diner and kids' play area by doing most of the work himself. But with limited experience, progress could be slow, leaving the family with a temporary kitchen and no running water downstairs for even longer. Vogue gives them a schedule and design ideas to help them achieve the traditional look they're after, including some beautiful but deceptively simple homemade wall panelling. And Luke offers practical DIY tips.

Vogue Williams and Luke Mabbott help a family in West Yorkshire whose renovation project has dragged on for eight years. Richard and Nangula bought Richard's childhood home from his parents when they downsized, hoping to preserve precious memories by keeping it in the family. They also wanted to put their own stamp on the place, embarking on an ambitious extension and renovation plan. But sadly, it's now badly behind schedule and over budget. Vogue offers up project management and scheduling advice to finish three key spaces: the kitchen-diner, a bedroom and an ensuite bathroom. She also devises some design ideas to create the lavish, opulent look Nangula loves, including clever use of mouldings and wallpaper to inject character into the boxy bedroom. Meanwhile, Luke teaches DIY newbies Richard, Nangula and their adult children some new skills to help them regain a sense of control over their project.

Vogue Williams and Luke Mabbott head to Nottinghamshire to help a family whose dream of a calming, minimalist forever home feels far from being realised. More than three years in, not only have they sunk £250k and counting into the build and endured living in a building site for far longer than they ever imagined, but Sylvia has also been diagnosed with a debilitating health condition, putting the family under further strain and struggling to find the motivation to get the project finished. Vogue and Luke are determined to help rekindle their enthusiasm with ideas for delivering the high-end look they want - including a striking architectural window seat - without breaking the bank. And Luke teaches them the skills they need to save money and regain a sense of control and ownership over their build, including tiling and fitting beautiful cork flooring. Will they finally give Sylvia and Dave the relaxing retreat that they've almost given up on ever achieving?
