Nie Mingjue and Jin Guangyao's history is revealed.

During the Sunshot Campaign, Nie Mingjue is captured by the Wens, but Jin Guangyao reveals himself as a spy to save his life. They become sworn brothers with Lan Xichen.

Nie Mingjue's saber spirit becomes more uncontrollable, and his relationships with Jin Guangyao and Nie Huaisang deteriorate until his untimely death

Wei Wuxian narrowly escapes from Jin Guangyao, but not before Jin Guangyao manages to reveal Wei Wuxian's true identity to the public.

While hiding in the Cloud Recesses, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji attempt to convince Lan Xichen of Jin Guangyao's guilt. Wei Wuxian learns more of the Lan family's history.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji set out for the Burial Mounds, and reunite with Wen Ning halfway on the journey. When they arrive, however, they encounter more than they expected.
