Julia's behavior becomes increasingly erratic as her husband's affair with Madeleine Cranmere intensifies.

At last able to pursue the beautiful Madeleine, Bickleigh is alarmed to find her less amourous than he'd supposed.

Bickleigh finds himself on trial for murder — which has an unexpected conclusion.
