In his fifties, he feared that his stardom would end when he was diagnosed with liver problems caused by his long years of alcoholism.

This proved that Julie has a natural talent for acting, and she even won the title role in the film "Mga Mata ni Angelita" in 1978. At the age of 11, she became even more well-known when she played the titular girl in GMA-7's soap opera "Anna Liza" in 1980. In 1985, the nation was shocked by her death, caused by an illness.
