A famous neural surgeon Anastasiya Striletska goes with an ambulance crew to a site of a car crash in which suffered one of her clinic's clients. Upon arrival, she realizes the call was fake and she is in a gang's den. Under pressure from Maksym Hrynchuk, a dangerous gangster, Anastasiya operates on a man with a gun-shot wound.

Anton, the man on which Anastasiya operated, regains consciousness and asks her for help. She tries to escape and inform the police of what happened at the pharmaceutical plant warehouse, but Maksym stops her. Soon arrives the plant owner, a famous businessman and philanthropist Mykhailo Volodenko. Anastasiya accidental witnesses a murder.

Anastasiya agrees to marry Maksym as it is her only chance to survive. Her brother Yuriy, a policeman, starts searching for her. Maksym explains to Volodenko, who is his uncle, what made him propose to Anastasiya: she is too well known, which is why they cannot afford to kill her; however, after he marries her, he can keep an eye on her all the time. Anastasiya attempts to escape from Volodenko's mansion.

The police arrive in the middle of Anastasiya and Maksym's wedding ceremony. Yuriy and Vasyl want to hear the truth from Anastasiya, but she assures them she loves Maksym. Mass media spread the information that Volodenko forced doctor Striletska to marry Maksym. To prove it is not true Edita, Mykhailo's assistant and lover, arranges a family dinner at a fancy restaurant where she invites journalists. In front of cameras, Anastasiya says she truly loves her husband. When Yevheniy, Anastasiya's boyfriend, learns of it, he starts searching for her to find out what is going on and why she suddenly gave up on him married another man. Maksym stops their conversation abruptly. Enraged Anastasiya revenges on him.

Anastasiya is sorry of what she did. Maksym proves to her she is not always kind and merciful as she thought of herself - it runs out it is all a matter of circumstances. After the intensive conflict they finally reconcile. Maksym takes Anastasiya to the clinic, where a patient is waiting for her. After a successful operation, Anastasiya agrees to have a dinner with Maksym. They have a sincere talk and tell each other about the dreams they had as children. This makes them a little closer. When she is back to the clinic, Anastasiya learns that Yevheniy was cheating her...

Anastasiya is depressed after she learns about Yevheniy. Maksym suggests that they go back to Volodenko's mansion so that she feels more comfortable. She agrees but says she wants to see her friend Lidia Belova. In the evening, when they arrive at Volodenko's mansion, Anastasiya overhears a conversation: Mykhailo demands from Maksym to get rid of her, her brother Yuriy as well as Maksym's brother Vasyl, a chief police officer who is actively trying to catch and imprison Volodenko.
