John and the relief launch a big raid on local gangster Neculai Stenga, only to find thiinks don't go according to plan. Desk sergeant Mac is forced to face his shortcomings as a copper and we discover that Stenga has a close friend on the police force.......only who is it?

In his dealings with a local tramp, PC Clifton discovers his compassionate side. Following the failed raid on Stenga, John starts to self-combust.

Some uncomfortable truths emerge when Inspector Black's husband is brought into the station. Robert and Lucy are on the hunt for a vigilante attacking doggers.

With the decision on the CID job imminent, Neil and Kelly's relationship is put to the test. John and Luke investigate a possible race attack on a local solicitor.

Following an investigation into a violent bouncer, John gets the shock of his life. Kate and Rachel's feud escalates. Lucy looks for a missing baby and regrets making a rash promise.

Harry offers to provide evidence against Stenga who, discovering what is going on, decides to take action. An elderly woman calls at the station, claiming to hear voices that tell her about future crimes.
