A major consumer finance company suddenly goes bankrupt and its president has disappeared. Rookie lawyer Narumi Akikawa, who has been commissioned to investigate overpayment claims, tracks his whereabouts and meets investigator Tsuyoshi Tatsuzaki. Just as the two begin their investigation, the president's suicide is reported.
