In November 2018, one of Brazil's most important executives was arrested in Japan on charges of tax evasion. Carlos Ghosn, former chairman of Renault and Nissan, was released in March 2019, but detained again under house arrest in April, from where he escaped on December 29, 2019. From his refuge in Lebanon, where he remains to this day, he and his wife Carole Ghosn stay connected.
