Carolina is lost in thought. Augusto helps a runaway slave escape and now needs to hide him. Felipe invites his friends to a party in Paquetá.
Chapter 2
Unbeknownst to her, Dona Lalá removes the barrel from the room. Leopoldo returns after the war and is examined. Fabrício decides to go to Paquetá. Luiza arrives in Paquetá.
Chapter 3
Augusto asks Felipe for help. Augusto visits his father, but finds his distant behavior strange. Fabrício asks Augusto for a favor to deal with Joana. Simão is discovered.
Chapter 4
Rafael opens the barrel. Carolina and Clementina are anxious for the students to arrive. Gustavo tricks Dona Lalá. João Bala threatens Juca. Augusto sees Carolina.
Chapter 5
Carolina and Augusto are introduced. Felipe makes a request to his grandmother. Felipe and Clementina go for a walk. João Bala orders the boarding house to be watched. Carolina and Felipe don't like what they see.
