Renatho Costa was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and began his artistic career at the age of 19, when he wrote his first play, which won awards at various festivals. In the following years he wrote other plays and also worked as a director, producer and lighting designer. He made a few appearances as an actor, but nothing significant.
