The two musicians Vincent Stein—also known in the German hip-hop scene as the producer "Beatzarre"—and Dag-Alexis Kopplin met as teenagers in Berlin-Spandau. In 1999, they founded SDP—at the time operating under the name "Stonedeafproduction"—though today the acronym SDP serves as the band's official name.
