Overview
In 1933 a major earthquake struck Diexi, a small town in the eastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Xiazhu hereditary chieftain Andeng Bang (played by You Daqing) took the lead in fighting disasters and self-rescue. However, the officials of the national Songpan government used various pretexts such as "resisting red bandits" to forcibly levy taxes and forcibly draw people's husbands.
