The New Taipei Trilogy

The “New Taipei Trilogy” is a loose thematic grouping of late-career films by Edward Yang, consisting of A Confucian Confusion (1994), Mahjong (1996), and Yi Yi (2000). While not narratively connected, the three films are united by their focus on contemporary urban life in Taipei and the shifting social fabric of a rapidly globalizing Taiwan.
